Dr. Ney, naturally inquisitive and always searching for why people behave as they do, obtained her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Durham. After graduation, she spent the next several years teaching, first as a Post-Graduate teacher at Durham University, then later at the University of Leeds and finally at the University of Michigan in the United States.
Throughout her years as a teacher, she has maintained a consistently high standard of excellence. She has generated unique and creative ideas that have had strong impact and produced statistically remarkable results. Dr. Ney’s students have always found her intellectually and emotionally stimulating, bringing to them her alternative approach, finding ways to excite and encourage students to explore for themselves, guiding their learning so they could gain maximum personal satisfaction from their discoveries.
Sensing a greater need for her services in the back-to-work sector, Dr. Ney elected to leave academia, return to the U.K., and establish her reputation in this field. She became part of the office flagships, driving forward innovation and encouraging clients to explore their own potential. In this way, she used her skills and training to help those most in need of assistance. In so doing, she found she not only helped others, but simultaneously satisfied her own need to make a difference in the lives of people.
After working for others for many years, Dr. Ney finally decided it was time to branch out on her own, taking her vast experience, skills and extensive training, and applying them to the problems faced by so many in today’s often difficult and competitive world.
Determined to make a difference, she investigated other resources and options to improve her effectiveness and immediately selected NLP training as a field of practice that would complement her own achievements and could be used to fill the need she saw around her every day.
She applied herself to this new program with the same determination and vigour she approached all aspects of her life, attaining her Practitioner level directly under the tutelage of Richard Bandler ñ one of the co-founders of NLP. Not satisfied with that accomplishment, she went on to complete the Master Practitioner in Education and Teaching Excellence program to ensure she would be equipped to provide the best possible service to those in need.
As an example of her unique approach to education and how it can be used to improve lives, Dr. Ney tells us herself, “Never one to be ‘put in a box’ I’m always on the lookout for new ways to help people, focusing on strategic interventions that work for the client and adapting my methods to get the best results. This keeps me actively researching, reading and training myself to provide the best service to my customers. I combine my studies to create innovative and unique solutions that aren’t taught in any books. I still hear from both ex-students and ex-clients from both the UK and the US — telling me what a difference my course made in their lives. How completely gratifying to know I have contributed to their personal and professional success!”
For all her many accolades as an esteemed academic on both sides of the Atlantic, Dr. Ney was raised a publican’s daughter. She is known for her easy-going manner, her friendly and welcoming approach that immediately puts those who meet her at ease. Whether she’s talking to a world famous actor, director or writer in Hollywood, corporate executives, government officials, university administrators, anxious students or clients deeply concerned about their future, Dr. Ney is noted for taking people as she finds them, but always working on the assumption that people have more potential within than they themselves realize. Not afraid to be brutally honest if it will help a person or group break a negative pattern, Dr. Ney combines this with her trademark empathy and understanding. Her entire focus is on guiding each team or individual to be the best they can be.
